Overview

The Touro University Graduate School of Social work is seeking candidates for a full-time (10-month appointment) Assistant Professor in Social Work, with experience in delivering distance education in an asynchronous and synchronous format. Ideal candidates will have knowledge of and experience working in the Observant Jewish communities. Experience should include curriculum development, education best practices, instruction / teaching in asynchronous courses, student advising, mentoring and supporting adjunct faculty and colleagues, ability to engage students in the online environment both in and out of the classroom. A typical workday will entail teaching, advising, and meetings. Faculty carry a 21-credit workload per academic year and are expected to teach, advise students, and engage in scholarship. Faculty participate in MSW program activities as needed (orientation, community days, committee meetings, and curriculum development), and will also contribute on departmental and university-wide committees.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

• Teaching asynchronous / synchronous and in person courses according to workload assignments
• Service to the Department, University, and Community Research / Scholarship, including publication, social work academic conferences, & funded research
• Academic advising for students in distance education
• Participate in standing and ad-hoc committees Participate in program events, such as orientation and graduation
• Build, strengthen, and support community relations
• Highly engaged and responsive during stipulated work hours
