Glass Installer
Colorado Springs, CO
20.00 - $27.00 per hour (based on experience) Sign on bonus available!
Summary
Install Glass in vehicles in accordance with factory and dealership specifications and time standards.
Essential Duties
- Installs and repairs glass for vehicles per estimate and according to manufacturer standards.
- Inserts precut glass in opening using either of following methods : Inserts precut molding into window opening around edges of glass and taps molding against glass edges, using hammer and wood block.
- Checks parts against estimate and ensures proper parts are ordered and received.
- Prepares vehicles for glass installation.
- Tacks molding to frame, using hammer or staple gun.
- Fastens glass into window opening, driving glazier's points into frame over glass, using point-driving tool.
- Presses and smooths putty into angle formed by glass and wood to make joint watertight, using putty knife.
- May spread sealing compound around edges of opening before inserting glass, using air gun or knife.
- May fit framed glass into openings in doors and screw frame to door, using screwdriver.
- May cut glass.
- Notifies management of any additional repairs needed.
- Notifies management of any difficulties or problems that may prevent a quality job from being performed or cause a change in the promised time.
- Maintains tools and equipment in a proper state of repair.
- Cooperates and assists other personnel in the repair and prepping of vehicles.
- Understands, keeps abreast of and complies with federal, state and local regulations that affect body shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know etc.
- Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
- Other tasks as assigned.
