Job description

Intersect Land Acquisition Professional

We're a team of friends bound together by a mission to preserve our planet for future generations through innovative energy solutions and modern infrastructure. In December 2025, Google announced an agreement to acquire Intersect, to enable more data center and generation capacity to come online faster while accelerating energy development and innovation. After close, we'll continue doing exactly what we were built to do - develop, construct, and operate the most ambitious power and data infrastructure in the country.

Intersect's operations will remain separate from Alphabet and Google under the Intersect brand. We're on an aggressive growth trajectory and looking for people hungry to tackle the largest energy challenges on the planet.

Location & Team Gatherings

Intersect has been a fully flexible workplace since its founding in 2016. We've been very intentional about the way we do things. We are not work-from-home, hybrid, or in-office - we are any and all of those options! Deepening social connections and offering shared experiences is a cornerstone of the way we work. We connect as a team at our Team Week experiences four times a year and at our recently established Hub locations - SF Bay Area, NYC Metro Area, NY; Denver, CO; Austin, TX; Calgary, AB; and Toronto, ON.

We are currently looking for candidates located within 60 miles of any of the listed hubs to foster more in-person connections while maintaining our flexible remote culture.

Overview of Department

The Land Acquisitions team works primarily in the ERCOT and SPP markets and across a variety of technologies, including wind, solar, storage, OGM, transmission, and data centers. The team's scope covers full-cycle development from early-stage strategy through start of construction, with a primary focus on site selection and acquisition to maintain the schedule, budget, and economic value of each project. The team coordinates closely with all major SME departments on a daily basis.

We are seeking a successful land acquisition professional to support real estate workstreams across multiple large-scale projects, land campaigns, and land acquisition efforts in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Contribute to various aspects of the Company's land acquisition process, from site due diligence to all aspects of site control, including helping resolve title and survey matters through closing site control agreements in connection with financing and construction.
  • Support all aspects of wind, solar, battery storage, and real estate development, from early-stage strategy through financial close and start of construction.
  • Manage day-to-day administration of land documents, GIS tools, project trackers, budgets, schedules, and development tools.
  • Support and administer the negotiation of complex land and site acquisition agreements, including leases, purchase agreements, easements, surface waivers, and related documents.
  • Oversee and administer third-party land agents and document specialists, including conducting administrative audits of reports and trackers to ensure compliance and overseeing document request workflows for multiple site control campaigns.
  • Maintain internal site control trackers and Power BI tools to provide progress reports across the organization.
  • Manage and work with landowners and community groups to support strong community engagement and foster positive landowner relationships.
  • Assist in preparing and updating land acquisition budgets and executive materials related to these requests.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in real estate management, finance, economics, or a related field.
  • 1+ years of experience in real estate, the energy industry, management consulting, finance, or a related industry.
  • 1+ years of project management experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Expertise using Microsoft Excel or other modeling programs.
  • Strong communication, organization, and relationship management skills.
  • Independent and self-directed.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, iterative, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Familiarity with land, environmental policy, law, or renewable energy.
  • Passion for renewable energy development.
  • Familiarity with Google Earth and GIS software.
  • Midland, TX as preferred location for role
  • Up to 20% travel may be required to support visits to project sites and participation in company Team Week events.
