Position: Junior Sourcing & Procurement Specialist

Compensation: $70,000-72,000
1. Job Summary
The Junior Sourcing & Procurement Specialist is responsible for supporting supplier sourcing activities, managing purchase orders, and ensuring timely delivery of components and materials to support manufacturing operations. This role focuses on supplier identification and qualification, RFQ/RFP support, and cost competitiveness initiatives, while also managing day-to-day procurement execution including purchase order management and supplier coordination.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to develop sourcing and procurement expertise within a fast-paced OEM manufacturing environment.
2. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Purchasing & Procurement Operations
- Create, issue, and manage purchase orders for production components, materials, and indirect goods within the ERP system
- Monitor open orders, track deliveries, and expedite shipments as needed to support production schedules
- Confirm supplier lead times, pricing, and delivery commitments, escalating discrepancies promptly
- Resolve invoice discrepancies and support Accounts Payable as needed
- Maintain accurate purchasing records, vendor information, and item cost data in the ERP system
Supplier Sourcing & RFQ Support
- Assist in preparing and issuing RFQs/RFPs
- Compile, track, and summarize supplier quotations for internal review
- Support identification and preliminary evaluation of alternate suppliers under guidance of senior procurement staff
- Assist with supplier onboarding documentation and qualification activities
- Gather market pricing and supplier data to support benchmarking and cost savings initiatives
Supplier Coordination & Cross-Functional Support
- Serve as a primary day-to-day contact for supplier communication regarding open orders and delivery issues
- Partner with Engineering, Operations, and Quality teams to support component releases, ECOs, and supply-related concerns
- Communicate supply risks, shortages, or delays proactively to internal stakeholders
- Support value engineering and cost-reduction initiatives by coordinating supplier feedback and collecting relevant data
3. Qualifications Education
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience
Experience
- 0 2 years of experience in purchasing, buying, procurement, or supply chain support
- Internship or co-op experience within a manufacturing or supply chain environment is a plus
- Exposure to sourcing activities, RFQ processes, or supplier coordination preferred
- Manufacturing or OEM experience strongly preferred
- Experience supporting supplier negotiations, sourcing initiatives, or cost-reduction efforts is a plus
4. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple open orders simultaneously
- Detail-oriented with strong follow-through and accountability
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems preferred
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to read basic engineering drawings or Bills of Materials (BOMs) preferred
- Strong understanding of balancing price, lead time, and quality in procurement decisions
- Comfortable working on-site in a collaborative manufacturing environment alongside engineers, operations personnel, and suppliers
