Rooster’s Wood-Fired Kitchen is looking for a skilled Sous Chef to join our Winston-Salem team. We’re known for simple, ingredient-driven cooking with wood-fired meats, fresh seafood, seasonal vegetables, and house-made breads. Our kitchen combines the relaxed feel of upscale casual dining with the standards and attention to detail of fine dining.


As part of Noble Food & Pursuits, we are dedicated to creating exceptional dining experiences while giving back to the communities that support us through local outreach and charitable efforts. We invest in our team’s growth through hands-on training, cross-learning, and mentorship, fostering a culture that empowers individuals to reach their personal and professional goals. If you're an experienced Sous Chef ready to join a team that pushes for creativity, skill development, and community impact, we would love to talk.


What We're Looking For:


  • 3+ years of experience in a high-volume kitchen with a strong foundation in classic cooking methods, knife skills, sauce making, and plating.
  • Pride in maintaining a clean, organized kitchen and managing food costs, inventory, and production in a timely manner.
  • Confident, calm under pressure, and enjoy leading by example, helping to elevate the team’s performance.
  • Team-oriented and enjoy working closely with others to solve challenges and achieve collective goals.
  • Passionate about food and hospitality, eager to continue learning, growing, and making a positive impact on the team and guests.


What You’ll Do:


  • Assist with overseeing kitchen staff and ensuring smooth service operations during shifts.
  • Support and mentor line cooks, ensuring consistency in food quality and presentation while continuing to elevate team skills.
  • Manage prep work, assist with inventory control, place orders, and support the kitchen with production tasks.
  • Work hand-in-hand with other Sous Chefs and the Executive Chef to meet daily production goals and uphold high standards.
  • Promote the Noble Food & Pursuits mission, creating an environment where both staff and guests feel valued.
