Job Summary

Education Specialist are responsible to the Director of Special Education and the site administrator. Education Specialist provide direct instruction to and coordinate the instructional programs for students with exceptional needs enrolled in the special day class programs at each school. Provides a basic core program for learning handicapped students consistent with state education code requirements.

Additional Salary and Workload Information

• $1879 additional pay for your Masters
• $1879 additional pay for your Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) or doctorate
• Speech-Language Pathology Credential = $3594 additional yearly stipend
• Separate Salary Schedule for our Speech and Language Pathologists
• Speech-Language Pathologists have flexible work hours outside of the instructional day and when not mandated to attend training and / or an IEP meeting within their duty day

REGIONALIZED PROGRAM SPECIAL EDUCATION (SPED) HIRING BONUS

A bonus of a total of ten-thousand dollars ($10,000) shall be awarded to a preliminary and clear credential Special Education Teacher (SPED) assigned to TAP, PERL, FA, or SCIL classrooms with a seniority date after July 1, 2025. The bonus shall be split over three (3) years (Year 1 : $5,000, Year 2 : $2,500, Year 3 : $2,500) and shall be prorated according to the SPED teacher’s assigned FTE and percentage of work year. A full-time equivalent in the classification of one (1.0) FTE would receive the following amounts in year 1 at $5,000, year 2 at $2,500 and year 3 at $2,500 on their first pay warrant of each school year. Unit members must be actively employed by Vacaville Unified to receive the bonus.

Salary

Salary commensurate with experience and education. Certificated faculty members are compensated on the VTA salary scale for teachers. Faculty members receive a generous package of medical benefits, and enrollment in the California STRS retirement plan.

Length of Work Year

186 days per year for new teachers

Requirements / Qualifications

Required : Special Education Credential authorizing Mild / Mod, Mod / Severe, and English Learner.
