Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and qualified Special Education Teacher to support students with diverse learning needs. The ideal candidate will develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), collaborate with team members, and create an inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning and growth.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
Utilize differentiated instructional strategies to meet diverse learning styles and needs.
Monitor and evaluate student progress, adjusting teaching methods and goals as needed.
Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families.
Maintain accurate and compliant records of IEP documentation, assessments, and progress.
Implement behavior management strategies to foster a positive learning environment.
Stay updated on special education policies, best practices, and emerging trends.
Qualifications
Education :
Bachelors degree in Special Education or related field (Masters degree preferred).
Licensure and Certifications (Required in Texas) :
Texas Educator Certificate with Special Education (EC-12) endorsement.
Obtainable through one of the following pathways :
Completion of an approved educator preparation program (traditional or alternative).
Passing the TExES Special Education EC-12 (161) exam.
Fingerprinting and Background Check : Completion of fingerprinting and clearance through the Texas Education Agency (TEA).
Texas Classroom Teacher Certification : Base certification for general education (e.g., Core Subjects EC-6, Core Subjects 4-8) may also be required depending on the teaching assignment.
Additional Skills :
Strong knowledge of IDEA, 504 Plans, and RTI processes.
Proficiency in assistive technology and adaptive educational tools.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience working with students with diverse disabilities and age groups.
Training in behavior management techniques and interventions.
Bilingual (English / Spanish) or proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
