Here's a Glimpse of the Job
The Texas A&M University Libraries seek a collaborative and service-oriented Open Education Librarian to participate in the development and assessment of Open Education programs to meet the needs of faculty, students, and staff. The selected candidate will assist in the support of open publishing platforms, project development, open licensing and copyright education. Additionally, this role will support the OpenEd unit with outreach and engagement in course affordability awareness.
This entry-level position is ideal for a recent MLIS graduate or early-career librarian passionate about expanding access to learning materials and supporting open scholarly communication.
Opportunities to Contribute :
Track the development and use of Open Educational Resources (OER) on campus using institutional data sources.
Collaborate with internal library stakeholders to integrate affordability metrics into data reports.
Provide data to the Libraries Assessment team and Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Evaluation for analysis and data storytelling.
Compile data from all sources to update and maintain OER dashboard to highlight how data supports student success.
Create reports to support outreach and engagement efforts.
Stay current on data analytics tools and trends, including AI, to enhance OpenEd reporting.
Coordinate with Digital Publishing Platform’s member institutions through regular meetings, updates, and inter-institutional initiatives.
Aid the Platform Manager in updating processes, procedures, and guidelines.
Serve as a point of contact for information about open licensing, copyright, and fair use issues.
Assist with workshops, tutorials, and consultations on publishing topics.
Handle administrative tasks related to new publication communications.
Collaborate with Academic Engagement, Marketing, and other stakeholders to promote OpenEd.
Represent OpenEd services at library and university events, including orientations.
Build partnerships with campus groups to raise OER awareness.
Assist in identifying low- and no-cost course materials, including OER and library resources.
Participate in scholarly activities and professional service for professional development to incorporate new ideas and technologies into library services and programs.
Salary : $62,.00 with an additional $3,.00 stipend for professional development
Location : This is an in-person opportunity. The selected candidate will be expected to work onsite Monday through Friday on our College Station campus.
Qualifications :
Master’s degree in Library Science must be conferred by the start date of employment.
A well-qualified candidate will also possess :
Knowledge or relevant coursework regarding data assessment tools (e.g. PowerBI), digital publishing platforms, copyright and open licensing principles, academic library functions to include library reserves, and / or ADA accessibility Title II standards.
Knowledge of Open Education initiatives and principles.
Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
Ability to work in an environment with shifting priorities.
Ability to take initiative and exercise independent judgment.
Conflict resolution skills.
Confidence in public speaking and representing the libraries.
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
