Job Summary / Basic Functions
The Department of Teaching, Learning, and Educational Leadership at Eastern Kentucky University invites applicants for a nine-month, tenure-track, assistant professor of special education position. The candidate will teach online and in-person education classes at the undergraduate, graduate, and / or doctoral level beginning August 2024. This position requires a doctorate in special education and 3 years of teaching experience in early childhood special education, deaf and hard of hearing, learning and behavior disabilities, and / or intellectual and developmental disabilities. ABD candidates may be considered with conferred degree prior to August 2024. Prior experience in higher education is preferred.
Candidates will be expected to teach a variety of courses related to special education and differentiated instruction and must be willing to oversee clinical experiences, advise students, and provide service to the department, college, university, and dissertation committees. Candidates must also be willing to serve and collaborate with schools and communities within EKU’s service region. Priority will be given to applicants with established or actively establishing scholarly research with an interest in disseminating their work and contributing to the field and to innovations across campus.
Minimum Qualifications
Education : Doctorate in special education is required. ABD candidates may be considered with conferred degree prior to August 2024.
Experience : Three years of teaching experience in early childhood special education, deaf and hard of hearing, learning and behavior disabilities, and / or intellectual and developmental disabilities.
