Special education teacher Jobs in Cary, NC

We are currently recruiting for a Special Education Teacher for SY 24-25 . You will have the opportunity to work in a challenging environment with the reward of impacting children's lives.

Essential Functions

• Provide a basic core program for special education students using a district-approved curriculum.
• Plan curriculum, lessons, teaching methods and special education programs.
• Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
• Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
• Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
• Evaluate student’s academic and social growth based on papers submitted, test scored and observation; keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports. Assist the student in making a realistic assessment of his / her abilities and establish goals.
• Prepare report cards, reading records, IEP forms, classroom observation records and other forms as needed.
• Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations.
• Maintain contact with parents of students.
• Assist the administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct. For the classroom, develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
• Assess student abilities and provide instructional and behavioral assistance for students in accordance with their individual education plan (IEP) and / or their 504-behavior plan as directed by the special education team. Support can be provided 1 : 1 or in small groups.
• Commit to educating the whole student – academically, morally, and socially
• Implement result-driven curriculum and instruction specially designed to meet the unique needs of each student resulting from his / her disability such as, resource room, inclusion and / or pullout services.
• Attend professional development, specialized trainings and IEP meetings with the special education team and parents as required.
