Job Description
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This full-time special education teaching position is available at an elementary school in West Hartford, CT, focused on supporting students in grades 3-5 within a Social Emotional Behavior Classroom. The role is a contract leave assignment starting in May 2026 and continuing through October 2026, excluding the summer months. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 : 20 AM to 3 : 40 PM, with in-person attendance required.
Key Responsibilities :
- Deliver specialized instruction tailored to students with social emotional and behavioral needs in grades 3-5.
- Create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that address academic and social-emotional goals.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and support staff to ensure inclusive learning environments.
- Monitor student progress and adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with families and staff regarding student development and classroom activities.
- Uphold a positive and supportive classroom culture that fosters emotional growth and academic achievement.
