Maintains and strengthens The Salvation Army image in the community and raises awareness of the North Texas Youth Education Town activities through various functions; focuses on special use of the facility, including but not limited to, meetings, birthday parties and other special events; plans, schedules and coordinates projects, activities, and events related to volunteers for the Arlington Corps; recruits, trains, and coordinates the work of volunteers to ensure ample coverage to meet the needs of all areas of the Arlington Corps; develops, promotes and maintains a wide range of volunteer opportunities; leads all planning and execution of special events occurring within the Corps.
Essential Functions :

Event Coordination Responsibilities (40%)
Creates venues that promote facility usage, markets special opportunity usage to the local community.
Develops event plans and proposals; works to schedule tours of the facility and to organize open houses and events for local civic groups, bridal parties, birthday parties and social groups.
Writes follow-up sales letters to clients, and produces detailed follow up reports of each event for management.
Helps build promotional pieces that complement the overall revenue generating sales plans for the YET. Assists the YET Director and Corps Officers in developing strategic usage of the facility that best serves the needs of the community.
Works cooperatively with Food Service staff when planning and scheduling events; works cooperatively with applicable parties to schedule space for events; coordinates with staff to complete the same.
Works with potential customers for special event sales for the YET and works cooperatively with the Food Service staff in coordination and follow through of each event.
Works cooperatively with the Fund Development and Marketing Departments to develop brochures, literature needed.
Volunteer Coordination (35%)
Oversees the recruiting, training, interviewing and screening of all volunteers; oversees and coordinates all volunteer training and instructs volunteers in proper methods and procedures; checks and approves work in progress and upon completion to ensure accuracy and completeness; creates and updates volunteer training manuals and resources as needed.
Develops and implements volunteer cultivation, evaluations and appreciation efforts; solicits supervisors to identify their volunteer needs and creates volunteer teams for specific areas; identifies key volunteer leadership roles and matches strong volunteers accordingly.
Oversees the development and promotion of event-specific volunteer opportunities with The Salvation Army Arlington Corps and Youth Education Town, such as Thanksgiving, Christmas Angel Tree, Red Kettle Programs, Veterans Day, etc.; ensures adequate staff is maintained to meet seasonal program needs.
Identifies and modifies volunteer assignments if needed.
Serves as the on-site supervisor for volunteers.
Liaison Responsibilities (15%)
Serves as liaison to other agencies in order to obtain / coordinate assistance; builds and maintains professional working relationships with community agencies.
Acts as a spokesperson and representative of TSA at local volunteer events and fairs.
Administrative Responsibilities (10%)
Maintains an accurate calendar for staff to show the upcoming events and to prevent double booking of space.
Prepares and maintains up-to-date database records on all volunteers; confers with supervisor regarding the status and performance of the volunteer program and reports monthly on the status of the volunteer program.
Other Responsibilities :
Attends training and stays current with trends to ensure that all Salvation Army volunteer coordination is on the leading edge.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of volunteer recruitment methods and practices.

Ability to follow instructions and work with limited supervision.
Ability to evaluate personnel and match them to an appropriate volunteer opportunity.
Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with staff, volunteers and the community.
Ability to work with diverse individuals and motivate them to partner with The Salvation Army.
Ability to plan and coordinate special events, and volunteer opportunities.
Ability to present programs and opportunities to the community through public speaking events.
Ability to present a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED :
Education and Experience :
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university related in Business Administration, Non-Profit Administration, Marketing, or related field,
Two to three years progressively responsible experience overseeing special events and / or volunteer-related activities
Any equivalent combinations of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Certifications :
Valid State Drivers License
Physical Requirements :
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language effectively.
Ability to perform public speaking.
Ability and willingness to conduct all duties in accordance with the ministry of the organization and its Christian principles; conducts all communications and job duties with the highest level of professionalism.
Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5 – 10% of work time.
Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.
Working Conditions :
Work is usually performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like, but not limited to the office environment.
