THE NEED PROMOTIONAL & OPEN OPPORTUNITY To fill a current vacancy, 7 hours per day, 181 days per year, itinerant assignment throughout Ventura Unified School District sites, and to establish an eligibility list for future vacancies. The established list will remain in effect for one year.This recruitment is open until filled.

THE POSITION Below is a summary of the basic function of the position and scope of responsibilities. Classification specifications are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed by employees in the class. Specifications are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. Under the general supervision of the school principal or designee and daily direction of a certificated Speech / Language Pathologist, assists in providing authorized and appropriate services for students identified as having special needs in the area of speech and language communication such as developing pre-language and language skills, oral-motor control for speech production, vocalization, and use of assistive technology devices for communication. Employees in this classification receive general supervision within a standard framework of policies and procedures. This classification is under the direction of the Director of Special Education and is established to provide educationally related speech therapy services according to students' Individualized Education Programs. THE CANDIDATE
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
An Associate's degree, completion of a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant program, registration as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant with the State of California : paid or volunteer experience working with students with speech and language disorders is preferred.
Any combination equivalent to sufficient experience, training and / or education to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed in the .

TESTING INFORMATION
The examination process may be comprised of multiple choice exam, performance assessment, computer skills exam, or any combination of assessment appropriate to determine technical ability to perform the duties listed in the .
Step 1 : Application screening (pass / fail) Applications will be evaluated and ranked according to criteria that most closely meets the needs of the department, so it is essential that applicants provide as much detail as possible and answer all parts of the application. If there is a high number of qualified applicants, a comparative screening will be conducted to determine which of the applicants will be selected for invitation to the written exam.
Applicants who pass the screening portion of the examination process will be emailed further instructions.
Qualification Appraisal Interview : (weighted 100%) tentatively scheduled the week of January 24, 2022.
All applicants must achieve a passing score in each part of the examination process in order to be placed on the eligibility list.
ADDITIONAL SALARY INFORMATION
Step 1 : $27.52 (initial placement)
Step 2 : $29.09 (6 months)
Step 3 : $30.75 (1 year)
Step 4 : $32.50 (2 years)
Step 5 : $34.35 (3 years)All new hires will be placed at Step 1 of the salary schedule and will advance to Step 2 after successfully completing the six-month probationary period.
Longevity increments are offered based on years of service with the District : an additional 1.20% of base salary per year after completing 4 years of service; 4.10% of base salary per year after completing 9 years of service; 7.08% of base salary per year after completing 14 years of service; 10.15% of base salary per year after completing 19 years of service; 13.31% of base salary per year after completing 24 years of service; 16.46% of base salary per year after completing 29 years of service.

INSURANCE
Available to employees who work at least 20 hours per week. Choice of PPO or HMO, Dental and Vision. Premiums paid by the District (includes employee and eligible family members) based on regular weekly hours worked :
20.00-29.99 hours per week; district pays 50% of benefits
30.00-39.99 hours per week; district pays 75% of benefits
40.00 hours per week; district pays 100% of benefits
HOLIDAYS
Approximately 14 paid holidays per year.
VACATION
Vacation is earned based on assigned hours. (For example : a new employee working 8 hours / day, 12-months per year will earn one vacation day per month, up to a total of twelve (12) days of vacation per
year. Employees who work less than 12-months per year or less than 8 hours / day shall be entitled to a prorated share of vacation benefits as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.) Vacation earned increases with years of service with the district.
SICK LEAVE
The district provides for 1 day of illness leave per month worked, with unlimited accumulation for unused days.
