Cambridge International Systems, Inc. has a full-time Technical Writer II opportunity available based in Charleston, SC. Qualified candidates for this job must possess a current DoD TS / SCI security clearance. ROLE RESPONSIBILTIES Write and edit technical reports, brochures, and / or manuals for internal documentation, customer reference, or publication, Research and analyze available literature, Verify copy with appropriate departments, Coordinate production and distribution of materials. Required QUALIFICATIONS Must possess an active DoD TS / SCI security clearance. Must be proficient in using different technologies such as computers and other tools and systems pertinent to the position. Experience : Four (4) years with a degree or seven (7) years with a HS diploma / GED in revising or writing standardized material reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, catalogs, and related technical and administrative publications, Assignments & Resources : Receives assignments and technical information from a supervisor or senior writer, may be provided notes or manuals containing operating procedures and details, Technical Access : Able to access manufacturers' catalogs, drawings, and other data related to equipment operation, maintenance, and service, Reference Materials : May work with blueprints, sketches, drawings, parts lists, specifications, mockups, and product samples to integrate and delineate technology, operating procedures, and production sequences, Writing Standards : Organizes material and completes writing assignments according to set standards of order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology, Record Keeping : Maintains records and files of work and revisions, Visual Materials : Selects photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate material, Publication Assistance : Assists in laying out material for publication and arranges for typing, duplication, and distribution, Specialized Writing : Capable of writing draft speeches, articles, public or employee relations releases, or specializing in writing materials related to work methods and procedures. Education : Associate’s degree or High School Diploma / GED TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS In rare / some occasions, overnight travel may be required. PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT AND WORKING CONDITIONS Cambridge International Systems complies with Temporary Duty Station (TDY) / Outside Continental United States (OCONUS) vaccination requirements. If this position requires OCONUS travel (listed above), Vaccine Recommendations by AOR | Health.mil lists applicable current vaccination requirements by location. Must be able to work in an office environment, sitting at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday. Work is physically comfortable; the employee has discretion about sitting, walking, standing, etc. May be required to travel short distances to offices / conference rooms and buildings on site.
