Job Summary / Description :

KCTV, the Gray Television owned, CBS affiliate in Kansas City, is seeking the ultimate storyteller to join our sports department in the home of the Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs! We're looking for someone who can find great stories, has a strong work ethic, and can be a great teammate. We want someone who can work closely with the sports team and with the rest of the newsroom to create unmatched digital and streaming content.

Duties / Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to) the following :

Enterprising stories that matter to viewers
Shooting video, writing scripts, building graphics, and editing video that helps you tell complete and effective stories
Planning, gathering, assembling stories, and producing sports hits as needed
Delivering scripted material and ad-libbing with professionalism, personality, and purpose
Coordinating with the sports department, assignment desk, digital team, and producers to develop enterprising and exclusive content
Creating content and posting to digital platforms as news develops
Responding urgently and appropriately to breaking and developing sports news on-air, online, and streaming
Working under strict deadline pressure
Demonstrating exceptional time-management skills by meeting all deadlines
Appearing on behalf of the station at public events

Qualifications / Requirements :

High-quality shooting, writing, producing, and video editing skills

Exceptional communication skills

Sound ethics and judgment

Consistent track record of meeting deadlines and producing high-level content

Ability to work varied shifts, including overnights and weekends

Bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism or a related field

Self-starter skills

Knowledge of and ability to operate state-of-the-art television news equipment as well as content management systems, social media, and streaming

Past reporting experience required ( years minimum)

Familiarity with ENPS, Edius, LiveU, Arc is preferred

Pre-employment MVR check will be run
