Creighton University in Omaha, NE is seeking to hire an Assistant Director of Club Sports and Sports Information.
The Assistant Director is responsible for promoting and enhancing the visibility of club sports programs, specifically premier club sports on campus and within the community. This role involves developing marketing and recruitment strategies, oversite of the Club Sports website, managing social media accounts, coordinating game day promotion. Also responsible for collaborating with student-athletes, campus organizations, and external partners to increase the recruitment of premier level athletes, engagement, and participation in club sports. Will hire and oversee a group of interns to support content development for marketing, recruitment, and branding efforts. The position requires the ability to handle an irregular work schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
The Assistant Director position may also include coaching and administration of an assigned Premier Sport Club team, as indicated in the job title.
Responsibilities
Marketing & Promotions : Develop and execute marketing and recruitment plans to promote club sports events, teams, and activities. Create engaging content for social media platforms, university websites, and newsletters including but not limited to videos, photography, and streaming. Design promotional and recruitment materials such as flyers, posters, videos, and digital ads. Work with University Communication and Marketing team to increase coverage of club sports. This position will work closely with the University Communication and Marketing team to maintain consistency in design and the use of university and department logos. Serve as a communication liaison to various sports' regional and national governing club sport organizations providing statistics or schedule updates.
Social media & Digital engagement : Manage and oversee the content of the club sports website. Manage and grow club sports social media presence (Instagram, X, YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, etc.). Monitor and analyze engagement metrics to optimize content strategy. Create multimedia content, including photos, videos, and athlete spotlights. Record and create digital, game or highlight footage and other promotional video aimed at enhancing the club sport brand. Maintain complete historical records, including photography and video archives, for club sports. Arrange for and produce each sport's team photos and player / coach headshots. Participate in planning and preparation for special events such as Special Program Day, Admitted Student Days, Team Awards Banquets, etc.
Event Coordination & Fan Engagement : Assist in planning and promoting club sports events, tournaments, and fundraisers. Develop strategies to increase student attendance and engagement at club sports games. Collaborate with athletics, student organizations and campus departments to enhance club sports visibility.
Sponsorships & Partnerships : Develop content to engage potential sponsors and partners to support club sports initiatives. Coordinate branding and promotional opportunities with local businesses and campus organizations. Assist with content development to support fundraising efforts and merchandise sales to enhance club sports programs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, sports management, communications, or a related field.
- 1+ years' experience in social media management, graphic design, or event promotion.
- Strong writing, communication, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of university club sports and enthusiasm for athletics preferred.
- Proficiency in marketing tools such as Adobe Suite and social media analytics platforms is preferred.
- Must be available to work evening and weekends.
Additional opportunity for those with Hockey coaching experience (optional, not required) : Primary duties are to train, instruct, and educate student athletes. Responsible for team administration, communicating with regional and national organizations, arranging practices, competitions and travel, budgeting, fundraising, and securing sponsorships. Recruit and secure a full team roster as determined appropriate by Director of Premier Club Sports. Participate in Creighton events and activities such as CU Sundays, Admitted Student Days, campus visits, etc. Coach players on site : plan and lead practices; create strategies; provide individual and team feedback; mentor students in good sportsmanship; travel with team. Adhere to and function in a manner consistent with Creighton University and Premier Sports policies & procedures. Responsible for the safety of Premier Club Sports athletes on and off the field. Monitor each athlete's grades and academic progression.
