Rutgers University-Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, is seeking a Sports Information Director. The Department of Athletics & Recreations provides all athletic and recreation activities for students, staff, faculty, and alumni on the Newark Campus. This position reports directly to the Athletics Director. The position provides all public relations, sports information, activities, marketing, and fundraising information for the aforementioned areas. This position is responsible for and not limited to the following :
- Serves as primary liaison to the media, creating timely dissemination of information, including news releases, event results, statistics, etc.
- Provides all media related activity, including media relations, interaction with opposing team sports information offices, and reporting of event outcomes to the appropriate media outlets.
- Plans, develops, coordinates, and implements strategies to enhance marketing and promotion of varsity teams, athletics, and special events. Creates and places departmental print and electronic advertising as required.
