Salary :

This is a Senior Microsoft SQL Database Administrator position for supporting a Navy program located in Quantico, Virginia.

DoD Top-Secret clearance is required to start, must be eligible to obtain SCI-level adjudication

You will work with a high-achieving team to design and deliver high-quality technical solutions. You will be responsible for maintaining functional and technical knowledge of mission systems for the organization, with a focus on leveraging technology to support business needs. You will identify technical issues and opportunities for efficiency and provide technical insights through system design and configuration perspectives. This role is both challenging and rewarding.

How you will make a difference :

• Deploying MS SQL servers in highly available configurations via multiple SQL nodes
• Setting up MS SQL Always On Availability Groups with multiple SQL server synchronization
• Deploying HA / AOAG stretched over a metro style clustering for disaster recovery support
• Performance tune DB and server connections
• Upgrading DB to newer versioning via best practices
• Working with MS SQL Transparent Data Encryption (TDE)
• Securing Windows, MS SQL, and DBs per DoD guidance in RMF accredited environments
• Patching servers and MS SQL installation during non-peak hours
• Administering MS SQL Reporting Services and Power BI instances
• Work with backup team to ensure user and system DBs have appropriate backups
• Work with CND team to assist in providing log review for threat incidents
• Assist in managing other SQL versions to include MySQL and PostgreSQL (PSQL)
• Performs software upgrades, patch installs, firmware upgrades
• Diagnose and troubleshoot problems related to the OS, hardware, network, and related software
• Daily written and oral communications with coworkers and leadership
• Continual attention to periodic SCAP and STIG requirements needed to harden the servers
• Create scripts in various shells to automate daily and periodic tasks
• Document work for leadership, update / create Standard Operating Procedures, and brief staff and customers various tasks
