Job description

Description

Mayfield Senior School of the Holy Child Jesus, an independent Catholic girls’ high school in Pasadena, California, seeks a mission-driven, joyful and creative educator to teach Statistics and Probability part-time for the 2024-25 school year.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong mathematical background and experience in teaching statistics. They would demonstrate knowledge of best practices in statistics instruction, including fostering a positive learning environment for all students, have a passion for teaching, and enjoy working with teenagers, particularly young women. The candidate also understands the developmental needs of high school students. This is a part-time, 10-month, exempt position.

Responsibilities

  • Teach 2 sections of college prep Statistics and Probability during the school day.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans, assessments, and cumulative projects that meet learning objectives.
  • Collaborate with the Math Department and school colleagues.

Salary

The annual salary range for this position is $26,000 – $32,800 based on 40% of Full Time. The salary will be based on our teaching salary scale that is determined by education and years of experience.

Requirements

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics (or a related field); master’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of teaching.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of subject content, curriculum, and methodology of effective teaching.
  • Skilled in the use of integrating technology to enhance learning.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with students, peers, administrators, and parents.
  • Experience or strong interest in teaching within an independent school / girls’ school setting.
  • Ability to teach students with diverse learning styles and abilities, demonstrating inclusivity.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to professional growth and flexibility to adapt to changing educational landscapes.
  • Wage Range

    The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
