Our entrepreneurial spirit is what has allowed us — and will continue to allow us — to grow. The result? Inspired people, amazing designs, and projects with purpose.
Job Description
Olsson's Power Delivery team is seeking an Associate Electrical Engineer – Protection & Controls who is eager to gain experience in both field work and design review. In this role, you will support on-site protection and control efforts, review issued-for-construction (IFC) drawing packages and collaborate closely with clients on substation projects.
We are looking for an engineer who thrives in both office and field environments, is comfortable with critical analysis of design changes, and understands safety, hazard conditions, and real-time problem-solving in the field. This is a great opportunity to develop hands-on expertise in substation protection and controls while working alongside experienced engineers.
Key Responsibilities :

- Conduct on-site evaluations of substation protection systems, ensuring compliance with design and safety standards.
- Assist in troubleshooting, problem-solving, and design modifications during project execution.
- Perform basic calculations, relay coordination studies, and protection settings with guidance from senior engineers.
- Develop and review engineering drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams using AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar tools.
- Ensure compliance with NERC, IEEE, and utility-specific protection and control standards.
