In the course of a year, we provide more than 3,000 children, ages 6 weeks through Pre-K with high-quality literacy and STEAM-infused learning; give 58,000 youth and teens access to sports, aquatics, day and resident camps, teen leadership development programs, and employment opportunities; provide over 200,000 members with programs, services, and facilities to enjoy connection and maintain wellness regardless of age; and engage over 25,000 volunteers and donors from across Atlanta to share in the gift of supporting their communities.
NATURE AND SCOPE :
Reporting to the Wellness Director, the Wellness Intern will work closely with the wellness team to support the planning, coordination, and execution of fitness and wellness programs. This internship provides a hands-on experience for individuals pursuing a career in health and wellness, offering exposure to various aspects of program development, fitness assessment, and community engagement.
RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to) :
- Assist in wellness and member engagement program development by collaborating with the wellness team to create and implement fitness programs that cater to diverse age groups and fitness levels.
- Collect data on program participation and member feedback and assist in analyzing the effectiveness of the wellness program.
- Gain knowledge by participating and observing in all aspects of the new member orientation process.
- Learn and understand Coach Approach and behavior change theories embedded within The Coach Approach.
- Shadow Coach Approach, Personal Training, Small Group Training, and Group Exercise classes as necessary.
- Gain knowledge of day-to-day maintenance of a clean, safe and friendly wellness floor.
- Complete Wellness Coach 101 and / or Wellness Equipment Orientation.
- Learn how to create a positive member experience.
- Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance knowledge of health and wellness program development, member engagement, and customer service.
- Refrain from diagnosing injuries, offering medical advice, and dispensing or endorsing all commercial health products, especially nutritional supplements, vitamins, performance-enhancing substances, and / or pain relievers.

Ergonomics :
Sitting, bending, stooping, standing, 15% repetitive keyboard work, demonstrating equipment use, lifting to 45 pounds, and exposure to noise levels at an average of 90 decibels (music) over an eight-hour day.
