Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Student Services Manager this position works with the Student Services Senior in Student Leadership to assist in providing services to students, employees, faculty, and members of the community. Services include presentations/workshops, programmed activities/events, which includes cultural and federally mandated activities/month celebrations both virtual and in person. This position is responsible for assisting with processing supporting documentation for financial transactions. Additionally, this position is responsible for assisting with the daily operation of the college’s food pantry to include inventorying, securing products, and assisting with the college’s Food Distribution’s coordination, setup, tear down, and facilitation. This position also assists in the monitoring of the college’s gaming area and other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions
35% - Student Leadership Activities – events, presentations and workshops on campus and virtual (GCC Main and North) - Leadership Center’s signature events (Club Fairs, Social Series, and other events as they may arise) - assisting with student group form completion, processing and acquisition of goods, following preset processes provide direction to advisors and club officers, assisting with the maintenance of the Student Leadership Center’s webpage collaborating with GCC Marketing
25% - Assisting with the Food Pantry management, to include inventory, shopping, Food Distributions, serves as the liaison between the Leadership Center and campus departments (Facilities and College Police, and St. Mary’s Food Bank), the physical setup and tear down of the food delivery, box production, and distribution
15% - Student Club Events – Assist with activities both virtual and in person for student groups and Voter Registration initiatives (National Day of Voter Registration and ongoing initiatives both virtual and in person)
15% - Student organization travel process-related duties (assisting faculty with the online Travel Authorization process, to include preparing required documentation conference information, registration, and any other related expenses) and online forms for students
10% - Assisting with Cultural Month Activities (researching activities to provide comprehensive lists for use in publications/websites); assisting with monitoring gaming area and other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution, and one year full-time of student services or college teaching experience or experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, or related student development programs.
OR
An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Two or more years working in Student Life and Leadership environment
- One or more years of experience assisting with event planning/coordination for both virtual and in-person?
- Strong written communication skills as demonstrated in application and cover letter
- Demonstrated experience with MS Office Suite or Google Suite (listed on resume)
Special Working Conditions
- Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required; must meet minimum standards regarding driving:
- Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate’s own expense
- Will be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations
- May require numerous evenings or weekends
- May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen
- May be required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs
