About the Position : Part-Time Preschool Substitute Teacher

Our teachers can create their classroom environment and are given the tools and support they need to be successful. The Assistant Teacher will support the Lead Teacher in meeting the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical needs of a group of young children.

Responsibilities

• Lead activities designed to promote physical, mental, and social development, such as games, arts and crafts, music, storytelling, and field trips.
• Relate to children with courtesy, respect, acceptance, and patience.
• Enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining classroom safety and order.
• Conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate.
• Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
• Assimilate arriving children to the school environment by greeting them, helping them remove outerwear, and selecting activities of interest to them.
• Attend to children's basic needs as age appropriate, such as feeding them, dressing them, and changing their diapers.
• Teach proper eating habits and personal hygiene.

Physical Demands

The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and / or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and / or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Expected Schedule

This is a part-time, on-call position. Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 9 : 00 a.m. to 6 : 00 p.m., though extended hours may be required to ensure adequate staffing during center hours. This role supports multiple age group classrooms, and we are always looking to add flexible substitutes. As an on-call employee, you will be contacted as needed to provide coverage when full-time teachers are absent due to illness or vacation.

Travel

Local travel may occasionally be required for training and staff development activities.
