Purpose :
Demand and Supply Planning Manager is responsible for creating a consensus demand forecast to help ensure proper supply and service levels at the lowest landed cost. Through data analytics, process implementation including S&OP, relationship building and incorporating non-statistical information from the sales / marketing team, the Demand Planning Managers help achieve the goal of balancing sufficient inventory levels to meet customer needs without excess inventory.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Creating and maintaining forecast models at a sku / month / customer level of detail over a 24-month horizon.
- Incorporate business intelligence and forecasting information gathered from other areas such as sales, marketing, finance, development, and supply chain.
- Creating and maintaining a robust S&OP / Integrated Business Planning Process to align marketing / finance / supply on a consensus demand plan, while clearly articulating the assumptions, risks, and opportunities to the plan.
- Using data to analyze and correct for bias, challenge assumptions, and drive forecast accuracy improvement.
- Monetizing the volume demand plan into a revenue demand plan, including understanding wholesale costs, discounting during annual holiday promotions, etc.
- Create and maintain a robust set of KPIs, including one (1) and four (4) months out bias and accuracy, and supply service levels.
- Communicate all changes to the demand plan via tools and alerts to the supply planning organization and understand and explain the forecast change impact on the supply months of coverage.
- Coordinating cross-functional research activities to reconcile significant variances between actual sales and planned sales.
- Providing input to the supply planning organization in developing inventory strategies on existing items, new products, and product phase-outs.
- Refining systems and methods to improve forecasts to better anticipate customer needs.
- Work with Logistics and Sourcing to flag POs urgently needed to support production timing.
- Work closely with Product Management to ensure cross functional alignment on build of materials (BOM) as well as communicate any material liabilities when product changes are implemented.
Education and Experience :
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; MBA preferred, and two to four years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. APICS or other forecasting certification preferred.
