Description : Surgery Scheduler

Surgery Scheduling and Coding a plus!

I. Job Summary / Job Purpose

Under general supervision, schedules appointments for patients, medical procedures, tests and studies ordered by the physician.

II. Key Responsibilities

Responsible for answering phone calls and scheduling patient appointments.

Conduct patient pre-certification to ensure coverage for appointments and medical care.

Schedule tests, procedures, and referral appointments.

Communicate with patients regarding appointments and instructions for procedures and tests

Collect insurance information and patient personal data.

May collect fees such as co-pays / co-insurance.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Math Ability : Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability : Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills : Must be proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, Internet navigation, database management, desktop publishing, spreadsheet, and graphic presentation packages.

V. Job Requirements / Qualifications

Education / Accreditation / Licensure (required & preferred) :

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience (required and preferred) :

Medical experience required.

Surgery scheduling and Coding a plus
