We are seeking an experienced Ohio Workers’ Compensation Claims Assistant to join our team. This is a key role in our office, and we need someone who can hit the ground running with hands-on knowledge of Ohio workers’ compensation claims. You must have a minimum of 3 years of experience working with Ohio workers’ compensation claims to be considered (plaintiff’s or defense side, BWC, MCO, TPA, or self-insured employer experience also considered).

Compensation:$50,000 - $60,000 yearly
Responsibilities:- Communicate directly with clients to provide updates on their claims, answer questions, gather information, and ensure they feel supported throughout the process.
- Manage and follow up on active workers’ compensation claims, including tracking deadlines, filing status, hearing dates, and claim milestones.
- Contact healthcare providers to request, follow up on, and track medical records, narrative reports, and other documentation essential to claim development.
- Communicate with the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC), self-insured employers, managed care organizations (MCOs), and third-party administrators to obtain claim information, file documents, and resolve issues.
- Prepare and organize claim files, correspondence, and documentation for attorney review.
- Assist with scheduling medical examinations, independent medical evaluations (IMEs), and Industrial Commission hearings.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records in the firm’s case management system.
- Support the attorney with research, document preparation, and other tasks as needed.
Required:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working with Ohio workers’ compensation claims (plaintiff’s or defense side, BWC, MCO, TPA, or self-insured employer experience considered).
- Strong working knowledge of BWC procedures, the Industrial Commission process, and Ohio workers’ compensation terminology and workflow.
- Excellent communication skills—you must be comfortable speaking with clients, medical providers, and government agencies by phone and in writing.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple claims and deadlines simultaneously.
- Proficiency with office technology, including case management software, Microsoft Office, and email systems.
- A professional, compassionate demeanor—clients are injured workers who deserve patience, empathy, and respect.
Preferred:
- Experience in a plaintiff’s workers’ compensation law firm.
- Familiarity with Ohio BWC’s online systems and filing procedures.
- Paralegal certificate or associate degree (not required but valued).
- Experience with legal case management software.
