Job description

About Us

Since 2003, we've been assisting children, families and adults across North Carolina with their behavioral health needs. Carolina Outreach is a group of highly trained behavioral health professionals dedicated to promoting the emotional and physical well-being of our community in a safe and respectful environment.
?
We provide a comprehensive and integrative array of behavioral health services and supports for people of all ages with varying levels of need utilizing an equitable and inclusive approach.
?
We focus on helping our clients tap into and develop their inherent strengths with the goal of supporting the highest quality of life possible for all we serve.

About the Role

The Carolina Outreach team is looking for a compassionate, dedicated, and skilled Psychiatric Nurse (RN) to join our Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team. In this pivotal role, you’ll play a hands-on part in transforming lives by delivering critical, community-based mental health services to individuals with complex needs.

As an ACT Nurse, you’ll be at the heart of service delivery—partnering closely with clients, families, and an interdisciplinary team to ensure that every individual receives the care and support they need. You’ll oversee the medical and clinical components of treatment, blending your clinical expertise with a deep commitment to person-centered care.

Each day, you’ll bring your clinical skills to life by managing medication monitoring, delivering psychopharmacologic care within your scope, and coordinating services that help clients thrive in their communities. You’ll respond to crises, support transitions into and out of care, and collaborate on individualized treatment plans. With your help, clients won’t just navigate the system—they’ll make meaningful progress toward stability and recovery.

  • Monitor and oversee all medical/clinical aspects of services delivered.
  • Provide medication monitoring and documentation.
  • Deliver psychopharmacologic and medical services within your scope of practice.
  • Collaborate with ACT team members to monitor clinical status and response to treatment.
  • Conduct crisis assessments, symptom management, and intervention planning.
  • Provide individual counseling, substance abuse treatment, and psycho-educational support.
  • Assist in creating transition plans when clients move in and out of services.

This description outlines the general scope and level of work for this role. It is not intended to include every duty or responsibility that may be required of employees in this position.

Compensation

This role is compensated on a salaried basis, providing consistent earnings aligned with the responsibilities and expectations of the position.

  • Compensation: $72,665 - $93,309

Placement within the range is based on licensure level, education, and experience.

What You Can Expect

  • Administrative and scheduling support
  • Flexible scheduling options
  • Supportive clinical and operational leadership
  • Opportunities to build your preferred clinical focus areas
  • Streamlined onboarding and credentialing support

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
  • Collaborate with care teams as needed
  • Maintain compliance with all clinical and regulatory standards
  • Participate in supervision (if applicable based on licensure level)

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse must be licensed to practice in NC by the Board of Nursing.
  • A valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance is also required.
  • Each ACT team member must complete DMH-approved ACTT training.

Other Requirements:

  • Must demonstrate competence in providing ACT services prior to service provision.

Why Join Us

We are focused on creating a model where clinicians are supported, not overloaded. You’ll have the flexibility to shape your schedule, the support to maintain a steady caseload, and the opportunity to grow within a stable, mission-driven organization.

Beyond the engaging work, you'll also benefit from our competitive benefits package to support you and your loved ones, provide work/life balance, and invest in your future. The list below is for informational purposes only.

  • Consumer-driven health plan coverage provided by Anthem
  • Wellness: When you enroll in a medical plan, you get complete care support on your time through Sydney app (Anthem), with exclusive access to 24/7 access to licensed doctors, therapists, and psychiatrists.
