Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in Medical Surgical specialty is responsible for providing skilled nursing care to patients in an acute care setting. This role involves patient assessment, medication administration, treatment planning, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to ensure quality care. The nurse must be adaptable to float within the facility as needed and maintain strong communication skills. A minimum of 2 years of recent acute care experience in Medical/Surgical nursing is required.

Responsibilities:

Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care.
Document patient care and maintain accurate medical records using Cerner.
Float within the facility as required, including mid-shift reassignment, to meet patient care needs.
Provide care in a Level 1 Trauma Center environment.
Adhere to facility policies regarding charting, patient safety, and infection control.

Required Skills & Certifications:

Active Registered Nurse license valid in the state of practice.
Minimum of 2 years recent acute care experience in Medical/Surgical nursing.
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced acute care hospital environment.
Willingness and ability to float within the facility as needed.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

Experience working in a Level 1 Trauma Center.
Familiarity with Cerner electronic health record system.
Local candidates within a 75-mile radius preferred.

Special Considerations:

Mandatory floating to other units within the facility as directed.
No block scheduling; shifts may be assigned with mid-shift float.
Call requirements: None.
Weekend requirement: Every other weekend, approximately 2 weekends per month.
RTO (Request Time Off) policy: Maximum 5 days with no more than 2 consecutive days; no RTO on holidays, weekends, or the day before/after holidays.
Scrub color is flexible; no specific color provided.

Scheduling:

Work schedule consists of three 12-hour night shifts per week, from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
Guaranteed 36 hours per week.
