Job descriptionTwo-year technical degree or technical experience strongly preferred, but right candidate without may be considered. Knowledge and use of hand tools Experience with Cat5 cable termination Experience with fiber optic cabling is a plus Outside plant knowledge including ability to locate underground fiber optic cable a plus Excellent interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective relationships with customers, employees, superiors, and business contacts in a professional, timely and courteous manner. Excellent written and oral communication skills Ability to perform a variety of tasks, often changing assignments on short notice Must be able to work independently with little or no direct supervision and contribute to a team environment. Ability to make sound decisions using the information at hand Strong trouble resolution and problem-solving skills Demonstrated knowledge of personal computer applications Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Outlook Strong knowledge in the use of ConnectWise and MetaSolv Outdoor and indoor work. Travel required some overnight Ability to lift 75lbs
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Demarc Extensions with fiber or Cat5 cabling
- Installation at customer site of network devices and CPE such as switches and IP Phones
- UPS Battery Swaps and equipment additions on customer premise
- Maintain remote POP locations : audit records, battery plant, A / C units, and generators
- Supporting of Fiber Network and Transport technicians during projects and outages
- Individuals will be on-call on a rotating schedule
- Some overtime is required.
- Must have a valid driver's license with good driving record.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Occasional overnight maintenance
