Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.

Nature of Work
Thefundamental reason this classification exists is to perform entry- tointermediate level Geographic Information System (GIS) duties.These duties include creating, implementing,and maintaining GIS data.The work responsibilities are : creates and maintains GIS data; creates, edits, and maintains digitaland hardcopy spatial analysis products; provides support, training, and technicalassistance to GIS users; and contributes to departmental objectives.The GIS Analyst is distinguished from theSenior GIS Analyst in that the GIS Analyst is assigned to less complex projectsand requires closer supervision.Projectassignments and technical guidance arereceivedfrom the Senior GIS Analyst; supervision is provided by the GIS Manager.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’sdegree in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Planning, ComputerScience, Engineering, or a closely-related field and one (1) year of GISexperience to include data collection, map production, and GIS mapping softwareutilization.
NOTE : Qualifying education, trainingand experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities toperform the job will be considered.
Kind of Examination
Applications are being accepted to fill two (2) vacancies and any other vacancies that may occur during the life of the register. The current vacancies are with the City of Montgomery Planning Department . Applicants will be screened and qualified based upon education and experience as shown on the application and supplemental questionnaire. For this reason, applicants are urged to fill in the application and supplemental questionnaire form completely providing detailed information concerning the kinds of jobs they have held, the dates they held them, where and exactly what their duties were. If more than five qualified applications are received, a selection procedure will be administered to rank applicants on the register. Tied scores will not be broken. If there are five or less qualified applicants, they will be considered equally qualified and placed on the register in alphabetical order.
