Mayo ClinicRochester, MN, United States- Full-time
Provides engineering oversight for critical infrastructure systems at Mayo Clinic including but are not limited to the mechanical systems (chilled water, steam, potable water, HVAC, medical gases, sprinkler, piping and plumbing), electrical systems (normal and emergency power distribution, lighting and signal), energy management, building re-commissioning, and systems that provide automated building control functions, security access and surveillance, a variety of alarming and annunciating functions, fire identification and suppression, emergency communications, These systems are typically very complex, span a large portion of the Mayo Clinic campus and represent large capital investments. The ability to evaluate these large complex systems from an unbiased viewpoint for future expansion and upgrades is necessary. This is accomplished by applying engineering expertise to evaluate the performance of existing infrastructure systems, project their remaining useful life, develop and maintain systems specifications, evaluate existing and emerging related technologies, develop proposals for the upgrade or replacement of existing systems, serve as a content expert during funding committee presentations, oversee the implementation and commissioning processes, provide project design / developers with design input and coordinate approved prototype testing and evaluations of infrastructure systems. Assignments align with areas or topics needing to be looked at from a holistic perspective and developed via applied logic, direction, and attention to detail. Often these assignments are projects that need implementing. Examples include a regulatory compliance implementation, a construction / repair effort, or an operational assessment. Review and assessments of contracted designs would occur routinely. Extensive organizational and planning abilities are needed to support a large and diverse work load. Multiple diverse skills are required and would include the training or experience in : Project Management, Continuous Quality Improvement, Change Management, Regulatory Codes & Standards (Health Care related), Building Infrastructure Systems, and Communications (both written and verbal that includes public speaking). Assigned tasks are performed within a highly collaborative and multidisciplinary resourced environment which shall be taken advantage of. Key collaboration parties include physician and administrative leaders who are focused on enhanced integration and successful implementation of strategic initiatives. Work assignments will occur across the various Mayo Clinic locations and travel may be required.
