At Perkins, we think courageously, act collaboratively, and we own our work. Join a supportive community committed to growth where your work makes a difference.

What you can expect as a Teaching Assistant :

You are passionate about education and want to make a difference in the lives of our students! Join us as a Teaching Assistant in one of our three schools where you will have a direct impact on the lives of students with complex disabilities and visual impairments. You will play a crucial role in supporting our educators and helping our students succeed. We have flexible schedules available to meet your needs!

You promote student independence, self-confidence and overall development by offering direct care and assistance, including teaching independent living skills and providing classroom support

You enjoy building positive relationships that will assist our students in managing their behaviors and foster social and communication skills.

You demonstrate an understanding of the general curriculum as well as the expanded core curriculum by supporting and implementing IEP goals and objectives which help students achieve their educational milestones.

You are detail oriented and can maintain accurate records of student progress and performance by evaluating and documenting learning outcomes

You take initiative by proactively engaging students in activities that meet their individual developmental needs and can effectively communicate their progress with colleagues and other team members.

You are compassionate about fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel supported and are motivated to learn.

Education / Experience :

High School diploma or equivalent required, Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred

Experience working with students with special needs , either in a classroom setting, through volunteer work or in another professional setting preferred

Willingness to complete and maintain First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Safety-Care Training, Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and Sign Language (dependent on program needs)

Valid driver's license and willingness to drive school vehicles preferred

We have benefits that put you first, including an employer contributing retirement plan, tuition reimbursement from day one, professional development for our employees, personal days, paid time off and paid sick leave. Our campus is quaint, charming and historical, a perfect mix of legacy and modern buildings. It is located in the heart of Watertown, adjacent to the Charles River and less than 1 mile from food & entertainment at Arsenal Yards.
