Description : Denver Language School (DLS) is a public, tuition-free language immersion charter school located across two sites in Denver. DLS provides an innovative academic program to reach the highest levels of student achievement through comprehensive language immersion education in Spanish and Mandarin Chinese. DLS offers traditional learning activities in the target language, making the language both the medium and the object of instruction.
Elementary Mandarin Teaching Assistant
Position Overview
The Elementary Mandarin Teaching Assistant support the lead Elemenarty Mandarin Teacher. This position would be for the 2025-2026 school year starting on August 5th, 2025.
Essential Functions and Objectives
- Encourages and supports student achievement through Positive Behavior supports and Restorative Practices
- Reinforces lessons presented by teachers by reviewing material with students one-on-one or in small groups
- Teaches or co-teaches lessons as appropriate
- Assists teachers with recordkeeping, such as tracking attendance and calculating grades
- Actively supervises students in class, between classes, during lunch and recess, and on field trips
- Collaborates with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to address and support students' behavioral and academic needs; and coordinate instructional efforts.
- Attends Professional Development and perform other duties as assigned
- Provides evidence of highly qualified status for teaching assistant at DLS / DPS
- Acts as a guest teacher for other classroom teachers, teaching assistants or other staff as needed
- Engage as a positive member of a vibrant international school community and culture
- Treats students and staff with respect, fairness, and kindness
- Ensures that the target language is used by students in the classroom 100% of the time
