As the Technical Director, Advanced Consulting Group (ACG) Life Team, you'll play a pivotal role in helping financial professionals navigate the increasingly complex world of life insurance, wealth transfer, estate planning, and business planning. Your expertise in tax rules, planning strategies, and life insurance applications will empower advisors to deliver meaningful value to their clients while supporting growth across Nationwide's life insurance business. This position is hybrid in Columbus, Ohio for Central Ohio residents (3 days in office). Candidates located near any Nationwide office will follow the same hybrid schedule. Current Nationwide Remote Associates are also eligible, and relocation is not required for qualified candidates outside Central Ohio.
What We're Looking For
Expertise: Deep understanding of tax rules and planning applications involving life insurance (including ILITs, split-interest trusts, buy-sell arrangements, executive benefits, split-dollar, premium finance, and more) required. Extensive experience with estate planning, business owner planning, and high-net-worth life insurance strategies a strong plus. Proven experience partnering with financial professionals such as independent advisors, RIAs, BGAs, and producer groups.
Communication Skills: Skilled at presenting complex planning concepts in a clear and compelling manner. Comfortable leading group presentations, conducting 1:1 consultations, and developing written content aligned with Nationwide's standards.
Qualifications: Series 6 required within 120 days of hire. JD preferred due to the technical nature of the role involving legal and tax planning.
Travel: Approximately 1525% travel to meet with distribution partners, support key accounts, lead training, and represent Nationwide Life at industry events.

Drive Sales: Lead the strategic growth of Nationwide's life insurance offerings, with a focus on advanced strategies such as wealth transfer, ILIT funding, asset protection, business succession, executive benefits, and nonqualified planning.
Consultative Excellence: Deliver advanced planning support across estate planning, business planning, charitable strategies, retirement income planning using life insurance, and high-net-worth case design.
Engagement: Represent Nationwide by speaking at firm, broker/dealer, wholesaler, and industry events, showcasing both your subject-matter expertise and Nationwide's commitment to advisors serving complex clients.
Content Development: Create high-quality educational materials including white papers, presentations, case studies, one-pagers, and other resources supporting advisors and sales partners aligned with Nationwide's voice and compliance standards.

You will provide consultative sales strategies in tax, legal and technical areas to all distribution sales channels and internal partners in the areas of business planning, estate planning, qualified plans and annuity strategies. You'll present at firm, broker-dealer and industry functions and represent Nationwide's position in industry forums.
Job Description Key Responsibilities
Directs case design by providing comprehensive tax and technical support around sophisticated concepts such as business planning, estate planning, qualified retirement plans and annuity strategies to be funded with financial products.
Provides comprehensive consultation to wholesalers, financial professionals and their clients and third-party professionals.
Travels and speaks at industry events on sophisticated concepts impacting life insurance, annuities, mutual funds and qualified retirement plans.
Builds, advises and reviews sales collateral on the use of financial products used in business planning, estate planning, qualified retirement plans and annuity strategies.
Partners and collaborates with Marketing to provide a strategic approach to the development of sales and marketing campaigns for all Nationwide Financial sales channels.
Authors and publishes tax and sales related articles, white papers and sales ideas on sophisticated financial product applications for use in business planning, estate planning, qualified retirement plans and annuity strategies.
Drives sales by educating professional decision makers on recent tax and legal changes.
Crafts, implements and facilitates training on sophisticated concepts funded with financial products for Wholesalers and advisors.
Monitors, researches, interprets, applies and communicates current and anticipated legal, tax and regulatory changes to Product Development, Marketing, Underwriting and Business Development.
Collaborates with internal business partners to build and implement business plans and critical initiatives.
Provides a source of credibility through expertise and reputation in the industry to internal/external wholesalers and financial professionals as they establish their own credibility with clients.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationship: Reports to Director or Officer
Typical Skills and Experiences: Education: Juris Doctor and/or Certified Public Accountant preferred. Studies in business, communication or marketing preferred. License/Certification/Designation: FINRA Series 6 or 7 license required. CLU or ChFC designations preferred. Experience: Eight to 10 years of related experience in a combination of law, accounting or financial planning/sales. Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Strong public speaking skills, persuasive writing skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment. Proven knowledge of business law, tax, accounting, sales or financial planning. Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Job Conditions: Overtime Eligibility: Not Eligible (Exempt) Working Conditions: Normal office environment. Significant (20% - 70%) travel is required. Non-standard or extended work may be required based on project needs.
