This role has a direct impact across the organization, producing customer-facing materials that influence product understanding and user experience. This position reports to Senior Product Management and works closely with engineering, product management, and marketing to gather information, drive clarity, and produce high-quality documentation. This role requires a proactive, self-directed individual who takes full ownership of documentation and is comfortable operating in an environment where information may be incomplete or evolving. Success in this role requires someone who asks direct questions, follows up persistently, and ensures documentation moves forward without waiting on direction.

The compensation for this role is $25-30/hr. and comes with flexible scheduling, paid holidays, and additional paid time off.

Technical Writer Intern – What You'll Gain:
  • Competitive compensation and benefits
  • Paid time off
  • Rewards and recognition programs
  • Immersive learning and development opportunities
  • Convenient office location
  • Flexible vacation policy
  • Excellent work/life balance
  • Great culture and collaborative environment

Technical Writer Intern – How You'll Make an Impact:
  • Own the documentation lifecycle from initial information gathering through final publication, ensuring progress is not blocked by missing or unclear information.
  • Develop and maintain customer-facing technical documentation, including but not limited to:
    • User manuals
    • Installation and quick-start guides
    • Standard operating procedures (SOPs)
    • Troubleshooting guides
    • Release notes
    • Product specifications
  • Proactively engage engineers, product managers, and other subject matter experts to gather technical details.
  • Drive conversations with stakeholders, asking direct questions and persistently following up to obtain complete and accurate information.
  • Identify gaps in existing documentation and take initiative to resolve them without being assigned.
  • Learn and develop working knowledge across multiple products and product lines in order to produce accurate and relevant documentation.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-focused content with the end user in mind.
  • Organize and structure documentation for ease of use and accessibility.
  • Review, edit, and update documentation to maintain accuracy and consistency.
  • Partner with Product Management to refine documentation and ensure alignment with product intent.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to ensure consistent messaging, tone, and branding.
  • Manage documentation versions and maintain centralized repositories.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement new tools, processes, and SOPs to improve documentation workflows and knowledge management.

Technical Writer Intern – What You'll Need to Succeed:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to simplify complex technical concepts.
  • Ability to independently engage subject matter experts and drive conversations to completion.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Self-starter with a high level of ownership and the ability to move work forward with minimal oversight.
  • Ability to quickly learn new products, systems, and technical concepts.
  • Strong curiosity and desire to understand how products work at a deeper level.
We will be particularly interested if you have:
  • Experience with documentation tools (e.g., Microsoft Word, Markdown editors).
  • Familiarity with software development processes (e.g., Agile, Git).
  • Basic understanding of APIs or technical systems.
  • Experience with content management systems (CMS) or knowledge bases.
