RADIOLOGY AND IMAGING SPECIALISTSJOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title : Mammography Technologist
Location : Women's Imaging Center
Division / Dept. : RIS & LRH IMAGING
Reports To : Office Supervisor
Type of Shift : Full Time
JOB SUMMARY
The Mammography Technologist performs a variety of mammography procedures in an outpatient setting while maintaining a high level of customer service and quality patient care. The responsibilities of the Mammography Technologist include performing mammography procedures following the protocols established by the radiologist and demonstrating compassion to ensure overall patient satisfaction.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Performs mammography exams following the protocols established by the radiologist. Competently performs procedures with limited supervision.
2. Properly inputs all required patient information into the system including protocol, patient history, referringproviders, and any additional information to the radiologist regarding the procedure.
3. Properly identifies patients and demonstrates compassion while maintaining patient confidentiality. Assumesresponsibility for patient care, safety, and comfort.
4. Assists the radiologist during breast biopsies while following OSHA and universal precautions. Reviews all consentforms and post procedure instructions with patients and answers any questions regarding the procedure, and ensuresthat the radiologist and patient sign the consent forms. Properly labels the specimen containers and fills out any necessary paperwork accurately.
5. Takes responsibility to stock exam rooms with necessary supplies. Maintains equipment and reports any equipment malfunctions to the supervisor or appropriate service provider.
6. Performs Bone Densities and any other duties as assigned.
7. Customer Service; Communicates effectively with staff and supervisors in a polite and courteous manner. Promotesteamwork by assisting other staff as needed. Words and actions support team improvement.
8. Maintains credentials for position.
WORK EXPERIENCE / EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
2 or more years in the Mammography field is preferred.
High School Diploma or GED.
Completion of a course in Radiologic Technology which is approved by the American Registry of RadiologicTechnologists.
Current certification (ARRT) with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and licensed by the FloridaDepartment of Health. Additional mammography certification is required.
SKILLS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Bilingual English / Spanish speaking skills are preferred.
Skills in properly positioning patients and obtaining diagnostic images, identifying equipment problems, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and public.
This job requires prolonged sitting or standing, frequent bending, stooping, or stretching; Must be able to see with or without corrective eyewear, must be able to hear clearly, with or without assistance. This position may require lifting 50 plus pounds.
