We have an immediate need for a Radiology Technologist for our growing practice in Louisville, KY.
The purpose of this position is to perform technical skills with the use of the C-arm to demonstrate portions of the human body on x-ray film or fluoroscopic screen for diagnostic purposes, while demonstrating diagnostic quality control. Performs any other duties deemed necessary to ensure optimal patient care and physician service.

Responsibilities
- Position patient on examining table; set up and adjust equipment to obtain optimum view of specific body area as requested by physician. Actively participates in timeouts by confirming patient identification, correct procedure, side / site, etc.
- Assesses general patient condition, including stability, pain and safety, and as necessary takes action consistent with standards.
- Determine patients' x-ray needs by reading requests or instructions from physicians.
- Applies principles of radiation safety in compliance with federal, state, and departmental standards; uses appropriate filters, cones, protective clothing and devices to obtain high-quality images with radiation exposure levels as low as reasonably achievable to patients, others and self.
- Checks the status of the imaging equipment to ensure device is in proper operating condition. Performs Quality Assurance testing to ensure proper calibration and optimal performance of equipment.
- Document procedures and events in the patient’s medical record and departmental logs, in accordance with regulatory and departmental standards; identifies images and documents with patient, technologist, date / time and laterality information.
- Transports patients using gurneys, wheelchairs and beds; transfers patients to and from the exam table.
- Maintain radiology supplies inventory checking stock, anticipating future needs and placing orders.
- Applies and monitors principles of aseptic technique throughout intra-operative period. Assists provider by having all necessary equipment available and ready. Efficiently “turns over” rooms between patients following proper cleaning technique. Communicates all breaches of aseptic technique immediately to the provider and circulating nurse.
- Observe and document patients’ medical and educational needs to assist in patient assessment and care.
- Completes and maintains appropriate radiation training and competencies. Assists in monitoring radiation methods that expose all staff to the least amount of exposure.
- Assists in maintaining radiological equipment and proper badge usage and storage. Troubleshoots problems with the C-arm. Maintains proper use of x-ray equipment including lead aprons. Report non-functioning or defective equipment to Clinical / ASC leadership.
- Documents fluoroscopy usage and correct storage and printing of images as determined by site. Follows principles of aseptic technique in performing duties.
- Effectively communicates with all providers and staff members.
- Participate and maintains safety and dignity of patient at all times.
