The Instructional Technology, Foundations, and Secondary Education department within the Watson College of Education at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW), seeks an outstanding faculty member for a faculty nine-month non-tenure track position in the Workforce Learning and Development program beginning Fall 2025.This position will advise and teach fully online asynchronous classes in the undergraduate Workforce Learning and Development program.
- Design, develop, and teach online courses in the Workforce Learning and Development program, as well as teach Master level Instructional Technology online courses.
- Provide leadership and service to the program, department, WCE, UNCW, state, and the profession (active participation in regional / state / national / international associations).
- Background knowledge in Instructional Design / Technology, Business, Management, Human Resources, or related fields.

Required Certifications or Licensure Primary Function of Organizational Unit The Department of Instructional Technology, Foundations, and Secondary Education prepares educators / professionals for leadership positions in instructional technology and secondary education. Our commitment is to the development of highly competent professionals to serve in educational leadership roles. The Secondary Education Program prepares students to teach high school (9th-12th grade) in a variety of education settings, including traditional high schools, and small “alternative” high schools in urban, suburban, and rural environments. The program has both a Secondary Undergraduate and Secondary MAT program options for students seeking high school teacher licensure in the core subjects of English, mathematics, science, and social studies. The Secondary Education program has several distinctive features : Small class sizes offering personal attention and guidance Extensive field experiences integrated throughout the program Excellent relationships with public school teachers and schools Dedicated secondary faculty Opportunities for international experiences. Programs leading to teacher licensure are offered in the fields of biology, chemistry, geology, English, anthropology, history, sociology, political science, and mathematics.
