Henderson Engineers is seeking a Design Technology Manager to join their team in Lenexa, KS. The Design Technology Manager is responsible for overseeing the development, deployment, and support of innovative design technologies to enhance engineering and construction management processes. They manage design software environments, custom tool development, and drive advancements in technology solutions across the organization. The Design Technology Manager builds and manages custom tools and platforms and is a key contributor to research, innovation, and training in design technology.

Minimum Qualifications for the Role are :

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, computer science, or a related field is required. Equivalent years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • 5+ years of experience in design technology management, software implementation, and tool development within the architecture, engineering, or construction industries required .
  • Expertise in Dynamo and PyRevit for developing custom tools and automation workflows.
  • Strong understanding of API development and software customization.
  • Proficiency in design technology software, particularly Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, BIM 360, and other similar CAD / BIM platforms.
  • Experience in building and managing custom design tools for CAD / BIM environments.
  • Experience in training and supporting teams in design technology best practices.
  • Strong track record of leading innovation in design technology and research-driven solutions.
  • Ability to analyze data and identify areas for continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for training and support functions.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Professional certifications in relevant design software (e.g., Autodesk Certified Professional) are preferred.
  • Experience with coding languages like Python, C#, or similar to create custom add-ins and plugins preferred.
  • Skills and Duties you will be Responsible for while in this role :

    Development & Deployment :

  • Build and maintain a user-friendly development environment for design tools, specifically in Dynamo and PyRevit.
  • Administer and optimize the design tool deployment platform, ensuring seamless integration into existing workflows and ease of use for end-users.
  • Software & Applications Management :

  • Lead the conceptualization, design, and user requirement analysis for custom add-ins and tools, ensuring alignment with business needs.
  • Oversee the complete lifecycle of custom and 3rd party design technology applications, from development, customization, and deployment to ongoing maintenance and updates.
  • Serve as the SME in software related contract negotiations.
  • Training & Support :

  • Provide targeted training sessions and continuous support to end users for design technology tools, focusing on custom add-ins and software use.
  • Lead the development, delivery, and ongoing management of training programs related to design technology tools and processes (e.g., CAD, BIM, Revit, etc.).
  • Respond to service desk tickets related to design technology issues in a timely and efficient manner, resolving escalated service desk tickets.
  • Research & Innovation :

  • Conduct research on emerging trends and enhancements in design technology software, ensuring the organization remains at the forefront of technological advancements.
  • Promote innovation in design and construction management by integrating cutting-edge tools, methodologies, and processes into existing workflows.
