Job descriptionProvide advanced ECG monitoring while assessing patient status through ECG strip analysis and arrhythmia interpretation. Identify and respond to potentially life-threatening rhythm changes. Initiate codes and record rhythms during codes. Perform continuous EKG monitoring with accurate interpretation of cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias. Troubleshoot monitoring problems and respond appropriately to all monitor alarms. Perform electrocardiograms in multiple settings including proper electrode placement. Communicate appropriately and clearly with charge nurses, co-workers, and physicians. Enter and verify orders in the computer system. Retrieve laboratory results from the computer system and bring results to the attention of the charge nurse. Ensure documentation meets current standards and organizational policies. Manage and operate monitoring and medical equipment safely and correctly. Required Skills & Experience : Proficiency in MS Office Suite. High School Diploma or equivalent. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or the Red Cross within the past year. Completion of a Dysrhythmia Course.
