The Alabama Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders is a partnership between the UAB Division of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology, Children’s of Alabama, the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center and National Childhood Research entities, including the National Cancer Institute and the Children’s Oncology Group.
Clinic 8 includes 18 board-certified Pediatric Hematologists / Oncologists. Specialty care is provided for blood disorders, Oncology, and NeuroOncology. The clinic also provides transfusion and apheresis services on an outpatient basis. Neuro-Psychologists, Academic Fellows, Residents and Certified Registered Nurse Practitioners also provide care in this area, under the supervision of the attending MD.
Clinical and research programs include Pediatric Oncology (Childhood and Young Adult Cancer), Pediatric Hematology ( Blood Diseases, including Sickle Cell Disease), Neuro-Oncology (Brain and Spinal Cord Tumors), Childhood Cancer Survivorship Program (Taking on Life After Cancer), and Hope and Cope Psychosocial Program.
