Processes telecommunication activities through the communication systems in a pleasant, courteous, prompt, complete and accurate manner according to approved policies and procedures.
Monitors all alarm systems in call center / switchboard and notifies appropriate person or response team according to approved policies and procedures.
Enters changes in computer promptly and accurately in accordance with department policy.
Notifies operators of all unfinished work and any unusual situations, before leaving shift.
Cleans and sanitizes work station prior to leaving.
Receives patient information calls and directs, transfers, and processes calls according to approved hospital and departmental policies.
Records and processes all messages received on the answering service according to approved procedures.
Receives incoming calls through the telephone system and directs, transfers, or records messages related to those calls as required.

Background / Expertise :
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required.
Minimum of six months call center or similar experience required.
Demonstrates flexibility in response to unexpected changes in work volume, emergency staffing and scheduling.
Able to work with various machines and equipment, including but not limited to : computers, answering service, radio paging system, telephone console, FAX machine, back-up equipment, mobile base station, and laser printer. Good clerical, computer keyboarding, interpersonal and communication skills.
Must be able to function well under pressure; must have ability to hold information in confidence.
