Placement Type : Temporary

Salary : 47-$53 per hour

Start Date : 12.23.2024

We are seeking a highly motivated Manufacturing Test Development Engineer with a proven track record in implementing best-in-class test techniques and processes within a complex manufacturing environment. This role will report directly to the Manager of NPI Test Development and will be part of the Robotics Manufacturing Technical Operations team. The primary focus of this role is on manufacturing test development and support for robotic manipulation applications, utilizing robotic arms (e.g., Fanuc, ABB), custom end-of-arm tools, and power distribution systems.

As a key team member, you will work closely with engineers, production teams, test engineers, and external vendors to ensure the highest quality products are delivered at the lowest possible cost. You will be responsible for designing automated test systems, debugging robots, implementing test strategies, and supporting product lifecycle testing.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Foster and promote a culture of inclusion within the team and organization.
  • Develop and implement manufacturing test strategies and solutions for robotic manipulation applications.
  • Document test procedures, specifications, and acceptance criteria for both new and existing products.
  • Guide and implement the design of automated test solutions, including electrical interfaces, test adapters, and software solutions.
  • Propose design improvements that enhance product manufacturability, functionality, and testability.
  • Write programs to control test equipment and devices under test using standard software tools such as LabVIEW , MATLAB , and Python .
  • Evaluate and approve product Electrical Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
  • Provide support for End-of-Line (EOL) test stations at local contract manufacturers and system integrators.
  • Adhere to and promote a safe working environment by following all safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Travel up to 30% to support testing and production activities at various locations.

Basic Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering , Mechatronics Engineering , or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in a manufacturing / test engineering environment.
  • Hands-on experience with debugging industrial robots such as Fanuc , Rockwell , Siemens PLCs , and IO-Link based control systems.
  • Functional knowledge of programming languages such as LabVIEW , MATLAB , Python , or similar.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing test strategies, defining test requirements, and implementing EOL test solutions to support New Product Introduction (NPI) programs.
  • Working knowledge of basic electrical equipment, electro-mechanical controls, and power systems (1-phase / 3-phase AC, 24-48VDC systems).
  • Experience reading and debugging electrical schematics.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering , Robotics Engineering , Mechatronics Engineering , or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of Electrical & Safety Standards , including functional safety systems for industrial controls.
  • Experience in support or maintenance of manufacturing systems or in a field-sustaining role.
  • Experience developing and maintaining automated test systems using LabVIEW / TestStand , Python , MATLAB / Simulink , or equivalent tools.
  • Knowledge of PLCs , networking, and wireless computer systems.
  • Familiarity with state-of-the-art automated test equipment and test fixture design.
  • Strong business communication skills for effective collaboration and reporting.
