Job purpose

The Denver Center for the Performing Arts (DCPA) is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Theatre Services Manager. The Assistant Theatre Services Manager serves as the manager on duty of the venue by providing exceptional customer service to the patrons, providing management support to the House Managers / volunteers and ensuring the theatre, lobby and auxiliary locations are safe, clean and in working condition.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides the utmost in customer service.
  • Supports guests accessible requirements, including solving seating concerns in coordination with Box Office.
  • Responsible for usher check-in procedures, night-of show usher conversations, lobby safety checks and resolving on-site patron complaints with Box Office team.
  • Oversees the training and performance of all lobby usher positions including Galleria greeters, lobby greeters and Bonfils lobby patron services volunteer.
  • Oversees the House Management team during show shifts to ensure smooth show, from pre-show to end of show experiences.
  • Clearly communicates with Engineering, Facilities, Events and Box Office to resolve any noise or temperature concerns during a performance.
  • Communicates the front of house and house report notes into a concise and professional report which is nightly distributed to the current internal email list. Additional notes, including usher concerns or compliments, situation details, engineering work orders, etc, are to be sent via separate email communications.
  • The Assistant Theatre Services Manager is a part of the Crisis Management Team and is Manager on Duty in coordination with the Stage Manager and Events Manager in case of emergency situations in the theatres on the Bonfils Complex and Garner Galleria Theatre. The Assistant Theatre Services Manager will work to resolve the issue with first response personnel, production team and security. Assistant Theatre Services Manager is expected to clearly and quickly communicate any situations with the Theatre Services Manager and complete required paperwork.
  • Assists in scheduling volunteer ushers via Volgistics system and updating performance notes for staff and volunteers.
  • The Assistant Theatre Services Manager is expected to perform as a House Manager when scheduled as such.

  • Weekly Availability of at least 12 hours per week including nights and weekends.
  • Working Conditions

    Front of house, lobby, and theater environment. A portion of duties are likely to be performed in very low lighting.

    This position requires availability on nights, weekends and holidays.

    Physical Requirements

    Must be able to physically move through the theatre and lobby, walking, climbing stairs, reading tickets in various forms, using technology including computers and ticket scanners. Ability to lift 30 lbs.

    Direct reports / Supervisor Responsibility

    Oversees house managers, ushers, and patron services each show. Sends out detailed show report.

    Compensation

    24.00 - $26.00 Hourly
