Machinist 1st shift (M-F, 6 : 00am-2 : 30pm)

Under the direction of the supervisor, incumbent sets up and operates all equipment associated with the Plant 6 Machine Shop, including Lathes, milling machines and drill presses. Operation of other equipment that support the manufacture of Ta and Nb products will also be required.

You will have the opportunity to :

Program, set up and operates both manual and CNC turning centers, 3-axis CNC milling equipment, UT plate scanner and the water jet cutter.

Interpret drawings and plan work in a proper operational sequence

Select and set “speeds” and “feeds” based on material being processed

Use precision measuring tools to verify that all work is completed within the required tolerances.

Inspects and maintains all tooling required to support the machining process.

Performs troubleshooting and routine preventative maintenance tasks on production equipment.

Required to process material samples as required.

Cross train in other process areas as time permits

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

High school diploma or equivalent (e.g. GED)

Requires a vocational degree or 3 years of manufacturing experience.

Must possess excellent mechanical and troubleshooting skills.

Experience in turning and milling equipment required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORK ENVIRONMENT

Position requires direct contact on the manufacturing floor and requires ambulation. Work time is spent in a factory environment where temperatures fluctuates.

The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR).

The candidate selected will have to qualify as either a U.S. citizen, a U.S. National, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., a Person Admitted into the U.S. as an Asylee or Refugee., a National of a country that is not prohibited from having access to U.S. controlled technology (via a letter of assurance), or a Person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction.
