  • Job Summary

    Are you ready to join our talented, dynamic and support-centered team making a meaningful impact? Are you passionate about student success and servingness? If so, we invite you to apply for the Training and Development Consultant for Glendale Community College.

    The Center for Teaching, Learning, and Engagement (CTLE) provides Glendale Community College faculty opportunities for growth and the means to learn innovative teaching strategies for all instructional environments, and staff opportunities for connection and learning to be most effective in their work. Reporting to the Teaching and Learning Director, the Training and Development Consultant plays a vital role on the CTLE team. Key requirements of this position include developing and implementing training and professional development events for faculty and staff. In addition, this position helps provide ongoing support to faculty and staff and their use of our learning management system and other work-related needs.

    Essential Functions

  • 30% - Develops instructional materials based on analysis and design; Plans and develops training strategies for the implementation of new instructional and administrative technology systems; Coordinates and conducts formal and informal training workshops / classes in multiple formats; Develops user documentation and edits training materials;
  • 30% - Provides technical and functional support for Enterprise systems, Learning Management System (currently Canvas) and applications which may include troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving application issues; Provides first tier technical and training support; Support users via email, phone, virtually and in-person; Communicates important information to stakeholders;
  • 15% - Assists in the identification of user needs and selection of training materials and modalities; Evaluates and revises training and materials as necessary; Improves evaluation materials and overall training strategy; Researches, evaluates and advises on current trends and developments in instructional technologies and higher education; Researches instruction courseware and materials; Performs front end analysis including needs assessment, task analysis, content analysis, learner characteristic assessment, environmental review and instructional analysis;
  • 15% - Plans and executes campus training events; Based on evaluation and knowledge of needs, identifies relevant topics, recruits presenters, organizes schedule, and markets event; Oversees all items related to planning, marketing, execution, and wrap-up of event;
  • 10% - Coordinates District training initiatives; Serves on relevant District committees; Communicates out pertinent information to stakeholders; Other duties as assigned

    Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in instructional design, training and development, education, or directly related field and two years of experience in training and development, and assessment or evaluation.

    An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

    Desired Qualifications

  • A. Experience with training development and delivery;
  • B. Experience with technology training and / or instructional technology;
  • C. Experience with a variety of multimedia, software and / or academic technologies (including Google, Canvas, Webex, etc.);
  • D. Experience in higher education;
  • E. Experience trouble-shooting user problems with computer systems and / or identifying user training needs;
  • F. Knowledge of current trends in higher education;
  • G. Ability to plan, implement, and manage projects or initiatives across multiple stakeholders or departments.
