The impact you can have

The Transportation Analyst will be responsible for freight payment, managing freight payment discrepancies, auditing freight bill payment and assisting with updating / maintaining carrier information within the Transportation Management System. The Transportation Specialist will also be responsible for vendor compliance, chargebacks and reporting vendor disputes. The Transportation Specialist will serve as the subject matter expert pertaining to financial processes and accuracy for the Corporate Transportation department. This will also include identifying and executing process improvement opportunities, customer service to internal and external partners which includes vendor compliance knowledge articles. This position should be comfortable with change management, with developing and performing more efficient standard operating procedures. The systems and technology the Transportation Specialist primarily utilized include : SAP, Microsoft Excel, 3rd Party Freight Bill-Audit Pay platforms, ACE Hardware Vendors.com Portal, Cherwell, and various LTL and Parcel carrier websites / platforms.

What you’ll do

  • Serve as main point of contact for Freight Payment for all modes of transportation (Truckload, LTL & parcel). Responsible for payment of freight bills in a timely manner as well as managing discrepancies and final resolution.
  • Partner with accounting & finance on freight payments.  Develop logic and process around building and paying invoices.
  • Vendor Compliance, Chargebacks & Disputes – Responsible for processing the chargebacks for vendor shipping errors as well as investigating vendor disputes and providing final resolution. Help create & update vendor compliance knowledge documents when needed.
  • Updating TMS Route Guides & Rates – Assists both LTL & Truckload Carrier relations manager in maintaining any new rates & route guides in the TMS system. Help create and develop Schedule A & Bs during carrier RFP process.
  • Process and apply General Ledger coding to checks from our carrier partners and insurance providers.
  • Process Improvement and Enhancements – Identify opportunities and make suggestions to improve and optimize efficiencies within the transportation and distribution network.
  • Assist with carrier onboarding process, including obtaining certificates of insurance, EFT Forms, W-9’s, other setup forms. Will also be involved with centralization of storage and record keeping for any new carrier related documents, including both new carriers and updates to existing providers.
  • Partner with accounting on freight payments and invoice reporting.  This will also include reconciling both transportation and CEA related invoices and centrally organizing for future reference. Develop and amend logic and process around paying invoices with our 3rd party freight auditor.

What you need to succeed

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, accounting, transportation, logistics, or other analytical related field preferred
  • Previous experience in the transportation / logistics operations preferred
  • Previous experience working with 3rd Party Freight Bill-Audit Pay Providers and freight invoice reconciliation
  • Familiar with reporting and analytical software including SAP and Microsoft Excel with related functions (VLOOKUPS, Data Formatting, Power BI Extracts)
  • Good organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Experience managing contract workflow
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to multitask and manage a high-volume workload with strict adherence to financial reporting deadlines
  • Strong engagement and partnership skills with the ability to both understand and deliver established results
  • Ability to create and develop standard operating procedures as needed
  • Must be a team player with good collaboration skills
  • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills

    64700 - $81000 annually
