    Position Summary

    Responsibilitie s

    The Transportation Driver will be an integral part of the Suvida Healthcare patient experience. This position will be responsible for driving a wheelchair van to transport non-emergent patients to and from Suvida Healthcare Centers on a part-time, flexible shift basis. This position will also be responsible for the care of vehicles and ensuring maintenance is completed on schedule. The Transportation Driver will also transport patients during day trips by using a handicap-accessible vehicle. Essential responsibilities consist of but are not all inclusive :

  • Ensures the highest level of customer service possible
  • Displays respect and concern for all patients
  • Able to be contacted to be engaged to take on a shift. Team Member's time will not be restricted while waiting to be engaged. Responds to flex demand notifications promptly and be available to work flexible hours, as needed.
  • Flexible shifts may be available for extended periods to cover the primary driver's vacation or leaves of absence. Team Members engaged for extended days will prior notice for engagement.
  • Drives company vehicles to and from individual patient care facilities / home per assigned schedule.
  • Assists disabled passengers into and out of vehicle.
  • Secures passengers' wheelchairs with restraining devices to stabilize wheelchairs during trip.
  • Communicates with clinic staff or Center Director to report disruption of service.
  • Responsible for cleaning, inspecting, and fueling of assigned vehicle, as well as documenting, reporting, and / or correcting any deficiencies found during the inspection.
  • Ensures vehicles are taken for maintenance / inspections as per maintenance / inspection schedule
  • Keeps records of trips, mileage, and accidents
  • Alerts emergency medical services and clinic staff of any emergency patient may have during trip
  • Other Duties as assigned
  • What You'll Bring

    Education, Experience, Licensure, or Certification Requirement s

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Current and valid state issued driver's license in good standing
  • CPR / BLS Certified (Willing to obtain within 7 days of employment)
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Applicant must have a minimum age of 25
  • Clean Driving Record (MVP) in past 7 years and clean Criminal Background
  • Bilingual- English / Spanish required
  • 5+ years of experience with operating motor vehicle
  • Comfortable working independently
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays via phone or text while waiting to be engaged for an available shift.
  • 2+ years progressive work experience in the healthcare transportation preferred
  • 2+ years of customer service preferred
  • Experience with operating wheelchair securing devices and wheelchairs, both motorized and non-motorized preferred.
  • Experience in Value-based care operations preferred
  • Considerable knowledge of geography of the business area and the location of roads and streets preferred
  • Expectations for Flex-Shift Transportation Drivers

  • You must be available to respond to calls and report to work within a reasonable timeframe quickly when needed for flex demand shifts
  • While awaiting engagement, ensure that you can be reached by phone and prepared to report to work without delay
  • Shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays based on patient needs and peak scheduling demands
  • Physical Demands

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit for prolonged periods of time, stand, walk, talk, hear, and reach with hands and arms. Hand eye coordination is necessary to operate computers and other office equipment; must be able to operate a motor vehicle. When representing Suvida Healthcare at external events, the Transportation Driver is also required to stand for prolonged periods of time, kneel, crouch, bend and lift, and be able to move up to 30 pounds.
