Centrally located in the heart of Birmingham, Alabama’s Uptown Entertainment District, the BJCC campus includes Legacy Arena at the BJCC, Protective Stadium, BJCC Concert Hall, over 220,000 square feet of meeting & exhibition space, and City Walk BHAM, a 31-acre public outdoor space with a dog park, pickleball courts, skate park and much more. Summary / Objective
The Parking & Transportation Manager is responsible for planning, organizing and executing all aspects of parking, traffic and shuttle operations for the BJCC including the Coca Cola Amphitheater. This role is responsible for ensuring a seamless and efficient parking experience for guests while managing the contractual relationship and coordinating with the external parking vendor. Responsibilities include managing the day-to-day operations and strategically forecasting parking, traffic and shuttle needs for upcoming events. An expert knowledge of the facilities and surrounding parking assets is required. The incumbent is expected to have strong organizational and communication skills, experience in parking for event operations, and a commitment to providing an exceptional guest experience.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities
Demonstrates understanding and full performance ability in each of the following :
- Oversee all parking logistics during events, ensuring smooth traffic flow, clear signage and lot availability. Coordinating lot usage for both event promotor needs as well as guests use.
- Manages the coordination of traffic flow associated with entrance and exiting the complex parking lots to minimize traffic congestion.
- Oversee and manage the provision of Parking, VIP and ADA shuttles for events around the complex.
- Forecast and strategically plan for appropriate parking availability and traffic flow for future events.
- Communicate event parking plans and day-of event parking needs with internal and external partners including contract partners.
- Monitor event schedules for the facility and adjust parking strategies as required.
- Be present for major event to ensure parking is sufficiently managed.
- Serve as the primary contact and liaison with contracted parking partner, ensuring compliance with service agreements and quality standards.
- Monitor and manage parking company’s contract, ensuring adherence to terms, performance expectations and cost efficiency.
- Collaborate with event managers, security, police, venue staff and etc. to coordinate parking strategies for different types of events.
- Communicate parking lot closures and staff parking relocations as required.
- Address guest concerns or issues related to parking and provide solutions that enhance the overall guest experience.
- Track parking revenue, analyze usage patterns, and provide reports on parking efficiency and vendor performance.
- Ensure parking operations adhere to local regulations, accessibility requirements, and venue safety policies.
- Liaison with adjacent parking resources to coordinate parking strategies as required by event schedule.
- Monitors and orders all equipment and supplies needed to support parking activities.
- Makes recommendations for improvements to parking facilities and operations.
- Responsible for preparation, setup, organization, and placement of all vehicles directional and pedestrian signs.
- Ensures all signs are compliant with BJCC standards.
- Inspecting and maintain real property and peripheral equipment daily and schedule repairs when necessary.
- Monitor and maintain facilities for safety hazards daily to prevent structural damage or excessive wear to equipment.
- Performs other duties as required.

Work Environment
This position may have a moderate to extensive stress level associated with dealing with crowds of public visitors. The environment is mainly indoors, however position may be required to work outdoors and exposed to the elements (heat, rain, etc.).
Physical Demands
Position requires lifting, climbing, carrying, bending, stooping, squatting, and kneeling for extended periods of time. Extensive walking and or standing. Ability to lift up to 30lbs items with or without assistance, while maintaining good balance. Must be flexible enough to reach above shoulder level and be able to push and pull for brief periods of time. Visual acuity, speech recognition, and speech clarity.
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position; hours of work must be flexible and varied to meet the demands of the events of the facility. Must be able to work extended and / or irregular hours including day, nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
