The Division of Facilities and Transportation Services, Bureau of Records Management and Mail Transportation is recruiting for a Mail Transportation Driver. The position is headquartered at the State Records Center, 1601 Gilson Street, Madison, WI 53715.

Position Summary
Under the general supervision of the Mail Transportation Services (MTS) Enterprise Program Supervisor, this position will provide Inter-Departmental (Inter-D) mail, USPS mail, sensitive mail, mail sorting and processing, transportation, and distribution to several state agencies. This position will verify and accept responsibility of incoming receipts for multiple types of mail and critical documents. This position will recognize and follow established procedures when handling mail and packages. This position will perform Pre-Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) on assigned vehicles and maintain associated logs and checklists and provide a clean and safe work environment.
Special Requirement :
- Must be able to perform physical labor, able to lift to 50 lbs. with or without accommodation.
- Must possess a valid commercial driver's license. Most positions require a class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
Salary Information
The starting hourly rate for this position will be $18.49. This classification is assigned to pay schedule / range 03-10. Pay for current state employees will set in accordance with the Compensation Plan. A 12-month probationary period will be required.

Job Details
Due to the nature of the position, DOA will conduct background checks on applicants prior to selection. DOA does not sponsor work visas. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States, and to complete the required employment eligibility form.
Prior to appointment for position(s) filled from this announcement, candidates will be required to undergo testing for controlled substances, per U.S. DOT s382.301. The position will require periodic and random drug and alcohol testing as required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. The selected applicant must be able to perform physical labor, able to lift up to 50 lbs. with or without accommodation. Hired candidates must be able to meet the DOT fleet standards for driving a state vehicle.
